SoHo will open at 80 S. Pauah Street in a renovated 5,500 square-foot spacse that will include a bar and an area for live The PauahiStreet location, between Bethel Streetg and Fort Street Mall and near , was occupieed by Mall Cafe until April. That bar had been citedd by the Honolulu Liquor Commission in recen t months for unsanitary conditions and foroverservinf alcohol. The commission also received a petition from community membersd opposing the renewal ofMall Cafe’s licensr because of alleged drug dealinh and frequent fights. Mall Cafe’s formerd owner, Saiming Corp.
, had been trying to transfer its liquo r license tothe landlord, Union Mill SoHo owner Daniel Gray, former general manager of the Loft Galleryy and Lounge on Hotel Street, said he was approached by Unionn Mill Investment to open a new venue in the Gray plans to open part of the loung — 3,000 square feet — for this month’s First Fridat event downtown, and open the remainintg space in August. Gray describe s the new venue as a mixof music, fashion and photography in a trend and upscale setting. The SoHo name stemds from the New York City neighborhood and a blend of and “Honolulu”.
