NACA to add more than 1,000 jobs in Charlotte - Houston Business Journal:

The hiring will begin immediately, with the nationalk nonprofit hosting a job fair Fridayhand Saturday. NACA focuses on lending to low- and moderate-incom families. Gov. Bev Perdue announces the expansion Thursday, with the state givinbg NACA a $1 million grant from the One NorthCarolinas Fund. It plans to invest more than $4 milliomn here, with 1,014 jobs expectef to be added over the nextfive “North Carolina remains a strong presence in the U.S. financee sector, and this is a tremendous opportunity for the Perdue said. “Our top-rated business climate and skilled financial-servicez work force are attractive to growingfnational operations.
” NACA is headquartered in Bostoj and operates more than 40 offices nationwide. It currentlyt employs about 100 workerz in Mecklenburg County to originate and processmortgages loans. Under the five-year states incentive agreement, the organization plan s to add 550jobs immediately. The jobs will pay an averagd annual wageof $35,982. Salaries will range up to $80,000 annually. The hiring will focue on mortgage negotiators, customer-service representatives, call-center managersd and mortgage counselors. “NACA is excited that it’s putting more than 1,000 people to work during these tough economic NACA Chief Executive Bruce Markssaid Thursday.
“Today’s announcementy is more than just a sounbite — we are followin g through on this investment by holding a jobs fair tomorrow to hire 550 peopls immediately.” Perdue said Thursday that she consulted with formert Bank of America Corp. Chairman Hugh McColl Jr. abouty the deal. McColl has been a longtime supporterof NACA’s work. BofA began a partnership with NACAunder McColl’s watch in 1995 and in 2004 committed $6 billion to its lending program. Perdue says McColl confirmed to her that he expected NACA could follow through on its job commitmentsd in severalphone conversations.

The NACA agreementas cover more than 90 percent of homeowners with anunaffordablee mortgage.
The staff from the Counseling Cented in Charlotte will travel nationwide to work on Save the Dreajm events where morethan 25,00p people are counseled over four with thousands receiving affordable restructured mortgages with permanenr interest rates often at 4 percent, 3 percent and 2 percent and where necessary the principal reduced. The started in 1988, has the primary goal of building strong, healthy neighborhoods nationwidre throughaffordable homeownership. NACA operations include financial counseling, specialized mortgage services and a Home Save progran for homeowners with anunaffordable mortgage. NACA will host a job fair from8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
