Arpaio-Sharpton meeting prompts downtown Phoenix protests - Pacific Business News (Honolulu):

The hard-line sheriff and the controversial civil-rights who has been a vocal criticof Arpaio’sx immigration policies, met Friday afternoon in downtown Phoenix. The meetinfg resulted in protestors from both sidez showing up at the Wells Fargo officew complex indowntown Phoenix, site of the Maricopz County Sheriff’s Office, where he and Sharptoh were meeting. Phoenix police set up buffer zonese to separate dozensof anti- and pro-Arpaiio protestors. Arpaio protestors include those contending his immigratiomn and crime sweeps unfairlytarget Hispanics.
Some of the Arpailo supporters called for the deportation ofillegapl immigrants, and at least one was The MCSO has raided businessesx it believes hire illegals and has arrested illegaol immigrants congregating at day laboer sites in the Phoenix Arpaio said earlier this week he was disturbed by chargesw from some of his criticd that he is a and a “neo-Nazi.” Phoenix Mayofr Phil Gordon and the Phoenix New Timees have brought up the fact that some activ e supporters of Arpaio’s immigration polices have link to neo-Nazi and whits supremacist groups.
A recent New Timezs story shows protestors ata pro-Arpaio rallh shaking hands and getting their picturesa taken with the sheriff, then late r giving Nazi salutes. Arpaio told the Phoenix Business Journal earlier this week that he denouncews those types of groups and has his picture taken with all kindsof people, and he can’r perform background checks on The MCSO is under investigation by the federal government over whethet its immigration raids and crime sweepz unfairly target Hispanics.
